LED light sales dim

Patna, March 6: Residents of the state capital seem to have given a cold shoulder to the tourism department's initiative to ensure easy availability of blue LED lights for illuminating their houses during the centenary year celebrations.

According to a resolution of the tourism department of illuminating all prominent buildings ' government and commercial ' with blue lights in the evening for three days starting from March 22, Bihar State Tourism Development Corporation (BSTDC) today opened two stalls at an exhibition-cum-sale of LED lights on its premises at Hotel Kautilya Vihar. However, the stall owners complained of "very poor sales".

"The footfall at our stall was extremely poor and not even five people purchased the LED lights. We are highly disappointed by such a low response," said Bhushan Kumar of Roxy Electricals, who has set up a stall.

The sales at the second stall were a tad better, but not up to the mark. "Not even 25 people purchased LED lights from our stall. This is much below our expectations. However, there were many people who enquired about the rates and the way to put up these lights at their houses. So we expect the sales to shoot up tomorrow," said Ranjan Gupta of Shree Radhe Electricals.

Vikash Vardhan, one of the very few buyers, seemed enthusiastic about these LED lights. "I have bought a roll of LED strips for Rs 500 and will decorate my house with them during the centenary year celebrations. Moreover, I am going to ask my neighbours and relatives to buy these lights to join the celebrations," said Vardhan.

BSTDC has decided to extend the exhibition-cum-sale till tomorrow. "The stalls at Kautilya Vihar will be open tomorrow as well. In a paper published on Tuesday in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences journal, the scientists described how they were inspired by the firefly, a bright and efficient source of natural light. election results, and as uncertainty prevails over Greece next aid payment. Kingfisher may not be able to fly if it does not infuse enough capital, hurting its ability to get investors, Pratip Chaudhuri said on Tuesday. He did not say what steps the lenders would take if it was not able to infuse capital by the deadline.
